Thomson, GA – Ret. MSG Danny McGowen, 65, of Rousseau Creek, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on June 3, 2016.

Danny (Dr. Doo) McGowen was born in Silverton, TX to the late Richard Lynn McGowen and the late Gerene Bingham McGowen. He was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1970 and retired in 1991 after 20 years of service. Following his military service, he worked with General Dynamics at Ft. Gordon and retired after 20 years. He was a faithful and devoted member of Sharon Baptist Church where he served as Men's Sunday School Class and Brotherhood Treasurer, The Grow Ministry, The Life of Christ Hayride and as an usher.

Survivors include his wife, Diane McGowen; daughters, Tonya Emory, Alexis McRae, Joanna (Tim) McGowen; brothers, Ronnie (Darnell) McGowen, Roy (Sharon) McGowen; sisters, Jolene (Melvin) Boone and Carolyn (Steve) Hastey; grandchildren, Aaron (Lynlee) Headley, Lauren (C.J.) Quarles, Lcpl. Marshall Emory, Aiden McRae, Morgan Wilder, Tyler McGowen, and Riley West; and great-grandchildren, Haylei Quarles, Ethan Quarles, Kynzii Quarles, and Lane Headley.

Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock p.m., Wednesday, June 8 th at Sharon Baptist Family Life Center with Rev. Andy Collins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sharon Baptist Church Building Fund.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
