Dale Turner

Lyle Dale Turner, 71, of Lincolnton, Georgia, passed away on March 3, 2026.

Born on May 14, 1954, Dale was the son of the late HJ “Jim” Turner Jr. and June Jensen Turner. He grew up with a deep love for sports and competition and graduated from Butler High School in 1972, where he was a multi-sport athlete. He later attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he played football.

Dale was a hardworking entrepreneur and respected member of the community. For more than 35 years, he owned and operated Turner Painting, building a reputation for dedication and craftsmanship. For the past 22 years, he and his son Clay proudly owned and operated Turner Realty Group, working side by side serving their community.

Outside of work, Dale was an avid fisherman who spent much of his life on the water. He fished all over the country, from Alaska to the Florida Keys, and rarely passed up an opportunity to be on the water. For several years he shared his passion for fishing with others by hosting a daily lake fishing report, “On the Lake” with Dale Turner, on WGAC radio.

Above all else, Dale cherished his role as “Grandaddy.” His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren and sharing with them the love, laughter, and wisdom that defined his life.

He is survived by his son, James Clayton “Clay” Turner and wife Macy Moss Turner of Lincolnton, Georgia; and three beloved grandchildren, Harley Luck Turner, Larsen McLain Turner, and Willa Blanche Turner.

Additional survivors include his brothers, Dr. HJ “Rocky” Turner III and wife Janet of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Randy Turner and wife Jodi of North Augusta, South Carolina; his sisters, Sherry Stewart and husband Vernon of North Augusta, South Carolina, and Cindy Youngblood and husband David of Martinez, Georgia; sister-in-law Candy Turner of Appling, Georgia; and several special nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, HJ “Jim” Turner Jr. and June Jensen Turner; his brother, Dr. Steve Turner and wife Michelle; and his brother, Stanley Turner.

Dale will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of the outdoors, his devotion to his family, and the many friendships he built throughout his life. He was also known for his unmistakable voice—deep, loud, and one that could easily fill a room. Those who knew him will always remember that voice and the presence that came with it.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 6, 2026 at 5:30 pm at The Rock at Camp Lakeside, 1238 Dogwood Dr., Lincolnton, Georgia.

Beggs Funeral Home 200 May Ave., Lincolnton is honored to serve the family of Mr. Lyle “Dale” Turner.
