Cynthia "Cindy" Hooks Rabun, 58, of Ginger Branch Rd., entered into rest April 29, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Prater and Rev. Phillip Gandy officiating. Interment will follow in the Marshall Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ms. Rabun was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Alvah Hugh Hooks and the late Adelle Young Hooks. She was retired from the Georgia Department of Agriculture with 34 years of service. Ms. Rabun had a passion for mothers in prison and was very active in prison ministry.  She was a faithful member of Marshall Baptist Church. Ms. Rabun served as Vice-President of the Women's Aglow Ministry of Harlem from 2005 to 2007 and then served as its President in 2008. In 2006, Ms. Rabun made a mission trip to Israel with Aglow Ministries. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother and her special legacy will live on through them. Ms. Rabun also made an impact in the lives of all she encountered and will be remembered and missed by many.

Survivors include her beloved daughter, Kelli Newton and husband, Jerad of Pooler, Georgia; brothers, Larry Hooks and wife, Polly, Al Hooks and wife, Frances all of Grovetown; sister, Joan Hooks Cushman and husband, Bobby of Thomson; grandchildren, Josiah Daniel Newton and Claire Adelle Newton; nephews, Patrick Cushman, Chris Cushman, Brent Cushman; niece, Rebecca Martin; special sister-in-Christ, Kim Cain and many other brothers and sisters that were dear to her heart and additional family, Danny Newton and Jackie Newton.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Hooks.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 3:00 p.m., Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
