Mr. Charles Curtis Tanner, of Tanner Rd., entered into rest on Mondayday, July 1, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 11:00a.m. from the Tabor Baptist Church with Revs. Paul Reviere and Richard Hoard officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Tanner was a lifelong resident of Wilkes County, having retired from a long career in heavy equipment maintenance, working both for Pet Milk of Washington and Southeastern Uniloader of Greensboro. He was a member of Tabor Baptist Church where he was active in the Adult Sunday School Class and also served as a deacon. Mr. Tanner was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Lucy Tanner, his son, Michael Tanner, and a brother, Jack Tanner.
Survivors include his wife, Robbie E. Tanner; a daughter, Teresa Tanner Saggus and a son, Jeffery Tanner both of Washington; a brother, Jimmy Tanner & wife, Peggy, of Washington; two sisters, Thelma Arterburn and Gloria Harris & husband, Layton, of Tignall;
four grandchildren: Tanner Bridges & husband, Tom, and Lauren Guinn of Washington, Ashton Tanner of Newnan, and Emily Tanner of Tignall; along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to United Hospice of Athens or to the Washington-Wilkes Humane Society.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
