Clark H. Thurmond

Mr. Clark Hugh Thurmond, 80 of John Lewis Dr., Lincolnton, Ga. entered into rest on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at University Hospital McDuffie.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Jones Chapel Church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Mr. Thurmond, son of the late Hugh Thurmond and Florence Raffini Thurmond, was born on July 10, 1939 in Lincoln County where he lived his entire life. He proudly served our country in the US Army from 1963-1966. Mr. Thurmond was employed at Mayfair Mills for 28 years as an electrician. Afterwards, he went on to work for GA Pacific, McCormick as a night watchman. His interests included hunting and fishing. He enjoyed striper fishing and his biggest catch weighed in at 30 lbs. Mr. Thurmond attended Jones Chapel Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Agnes Norman Thurmond; sons, Greg Thurmond and John Thurmond and wife, Monica, all of Lincolnton, GA; daughter, Tina Poss and husband, Gene of Lincolnton, GA; brothers, Frank Thurmond of Lincolnton, GA and Billy Thurmond of Hartwell, GA; sister, Linda Cox of Lincolnton, GA; grandchildren, Grant Thurmond, Keith Thurmond, Chase Thurmond, Kathy Stewart, Ernie Poss, Lorianne Poss, Sam Thurmond, and Taylor Thurmond; and six great grandchildren. His brother, Bennie Thurmond, preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Beggs Funeral Home, 200 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga.
