CHARLES E. ECHOLS MR. CHARLES E. ECHOLS, 72 of Hillcrest Drive Thomson, GA entered into rest June 11, 2009 at MCG . He was the beloved husband of Linda Chandler Echols. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, June 15, 2009 at Sweetwater Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Garvin and Carroll Leopard officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Lamar Doolittle, Gene Walker, Stephen Chandler, Lynwood Chandler, David Bennett, Richard Downs.Honorary pallbearers will be members of the C. D. Cason Sunday School Class. Mr. Echols was a native of Forsyth County, GA but lived in McDuffie County since 1977. He was the son of the late Leslie Ralph Echols and the late Ruby Day Echols. Mr. Echols served in the U. S. Army Reserves. He was retired as a Representative of United Family Life Insurance Company with 30 years of service and was retired as a bus driver with the McDuffie County Board of Education with 30 years of service. He also worked with his son's business Springer Lawn Maintenance. Mr. Echols was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, former Properties Chairman for many years and was a member of the C. D. Cason Sunday School Class. Survivors include: Wife; Linda Chandler Echols- Thomson,GA Daughters: Allison Doolittle and her husband Lamar- Sandersville, GA Amy Echols- Thomson, GA Son: Charles Matthew Echols and his wife Margret- Thomson, GA Brother: Larry Echols- Wyoming Wynona Mathis- Kennesaw,GA Grandchildren: Laura Allyn Doolittle, Benjamin Lamar Doolittle, Mary Chandler Echols and Charles Marshall Echols Memorials may be made to the Sweetwater Baptist Church Building Fund 1606 Wrens Hwy. Thomson, GA 30824. Friends may call the residence of his son Matt Echols at 1346 Salem Rd. Thomson, Georgia or from 5 until 7 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
