Carolyn Jane (Cliatt) Paradise

Mrs. Carolyn Jane Cliatt Paradise, 88, wife of the late Thomas W. Paradise, of Martinez, Ga,  entered into rest on Friday, September 25, 2015 at Doctors Hospital, Augusta.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015 at 3 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Kalliokoski officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Paradise, daughter of the late Am H. and Vinnie Vickery Cliatt, was born in High Point, NC, grew up in Lincoln County and graduated from LHS in 1944 with honors. During WWII, she worked for the US Navy Dept. in Washington, D.C.

Following WWII, she graduated from UGA with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and returned to Lincoln County to teach in the local school system. She and her husband, Thomas, lived in Aiken until 1965 when they moved to Martinez. During her career in the Columbia County School System, which spanned until the 1980's, she earned a Master's Degree in Education from UGA.

Carol Jane enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, and the Atlanta Braves. Also, she was a member of Warren Baptist Church. Her brother, John Vickery Cliatt, preceded her in death.

Grandchildren : Katie Krantz, and husband, Brian, Joy Cohen and husband, Kenny

Jake Baynham, and wife, Sara

Traci Cameron, and husband, Charlie

Tommy Paradise, Adrienne Paradise,

Lauren Baynham, Elliott Triplett, Kaitlyn Williams, and Kendall Williams
