Mrs. Carol Jackson Saggus, affectionately known as "Mamaw" entered into rest on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Piedmont Augusta. Mrs. Saggus, (77) daughter of the late Wesley and Mary Anthony Jackson was born on April 8, 1945 in Augusta, Ga. Her family settled in Lincolnton. During her career, she was employed as a supervisor at Oxford Manufacturing and FDB. A typical day at the sewing plant was tiresome but she never failed to prepare a big meal for her family upon returning from work. Mrs. Carol had a heart for service and soon after retirement, she worked for Quarles Cleaners, cooked meals for Over The Rainbow Daycare, and made the desserts for Down On Main. Until becoming ill recently, she continued keeping her door open to the community and taking in alteration work as well as cooking a meal twice a week for her entire family. Aside from her family being the most important people in her life, she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was always willing to serve her beloved Bethany United Methodist Church in every capacity that she could. To mention a few, they include serving as Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, Lay Leader, UMW President, and Hostess Committee Chair. She also served her community as the Lincoln County Coordinator of Jail Ministry. Mamaw will be missed by her daughter, Fran Spratlin and husband Marcus; sons, Bobby Joe "Bubba" Saggus, Jr., and Alvin Saggus; sister, Jeanne Snellgrove; sisters-in-law, Virginia Aycock, Peggy Saggus and Faye Saggus; grandchildren, Megan Goolsby and husband Wilkes, Madison Evans, Mason Saggus, Ward Spratlin and wife Heather, and Caroline Beggs and husband Bentley; great- grandchildren, Lylah Evans, Carrington Goolsby, Lennox Goolsby, Saylor Saggus and soon to be born Baby Boy Beggs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Joe Saggus, Sr. and siblings John Jackson and Elizabeth Palmer. A memorial celebration will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 11am at Bethany United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 10am until the hour of the service at the church. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, c/o Bruce Rowland, 2040 Bethany Church Rd., Lincolnton, Ga. 30817. Beggs Funeral Home, 200 May Ave., Lincolnton is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Carol J. Saggus.
