Mr. Carlton Allen Tankersley, 73, of Suan Drive, Appling, GA entered into rest March 17, 2016.
Mr. Tankersley was a lifelong resident of Columbia County and was the son of the late Edward A. Tankersley and the late Viola Bell Dozier. He was retired from Bellsouth as a Technician and served as the Past President of the Communications Workers of America Local 3207. Mr. Tankersley was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and he enjoyed fishing and woodworking. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tankersley was predeceased by his sister, Linda T. Jordan.
Survivors include his sons, Allen Tankersley, Jr., Jamie Tankersley both of Appling, GA; daughters, Denise Agy of Illinois, Becky Pentecost of Warrenton, Tracy Welsh of Idaho; brother, Larry Tankersley and sister, Eugenia Bufford both of Appling, GA; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 3 o'clock p.m., Friday, March 25th at the Dunns Chapel Church Cemetery with Rev. Kim Webb officiating. The family will receive friends 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service in the Dunns Chapel Fellowship Hall.
Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Rd., Thomson, GA is in charge of arrangements.
