Carl Earl Wood Jr.

Mr. Carl E. Wood Jr., 86, formerly of Crook Road Lincolnton, passed away at Pruitt Health at Grandview in Athens, Georgia on March 27, 2023.

A funeral service is planned for Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Loco Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of the service in the church sanctuary.

Mr. Wood was born in Atlanta to the late Carl E. Sr. and Genevieve Otwell Wood. He was a registered professional land surveyor and had formerly worked for Charles Elam Surveying as well as Mattison and Associates here in Lincolnton.  He was a member of Loco Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and his favorite hobbies were fishing, woodworking and jewelry making.  After the death of his wife, he moved to the Covington area to be near his children.

He was predeceased by his wife, Bernice Brown Wood, son, Billy Wood and his brother, Eugene Wood.  He is survived by his daughters, Donna Parkes, Covington, GA and Carol Wood of Toccoa, GA, his step children, Julia Goldman Binner, Robert H. "Bobby" Goldman, both of Lincolnton and James C. Goldman of Tyrone, GA , sister, Gigi Gladden and husband Tommy, of McDonough, GA and 19 grandchildren, and numerous great and great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Loco Baptist Church.
