Thomson, GA –Master Sergeant Bruce David Woods,U.S. Army (Retired), 82, of Stagecoach Rd., entered into rest November 7, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 11th in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson with Father Stephen Lyness officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Westview Cemetery. Retired Master Sergeant Woods was born in South Bend, Indiana to the late Charles F. Woods and the late Ruth Alice Nelson Woods. He served in the U. S. Army during Korea and Vietnam and retired as a Master Sergeant with 21 years of service. After retirement he became a sales manager for Circuit City and Rich's for many years. He lived in the Winfield Community of Columbia County for the past 40 years before recently moving to Thomson. He was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Mabel Woods; daughters, Christa Weaver (Nick) of Pennsylvania, Hannelore R. Woods of Augusta, GA; sons, Charles F. Woods, II (Gwen) of Appling, GA, James Higdon, Joey Higdon, Jeff Higdon (Christine), and David Woods all of Thomson, GA; sister, Katie Worden (Al) of Madison, GA; 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Mr. Woods was preceded in death by a son, Thomas F. Woods. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
