Bruce Carlton Beggs

Sheriff Bruce C. Beggs, 58 of Kelly St. entered into rest on Monday, July 3, 2017.

Sheriff Beggs, a lifelong resident of Lincolnton, was the Sheriff of Lincoln County, GA.  He was the son of Ellie Ruth Norman Beggs and the late Elzy Carlton Beggs.

He was a member of Georgia Sheriff's Association, an Advisory Board Member of the Peace Officers Training Academy at Augusta Technical College, a former dispatcher, a former jailor, and a former deputy with Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.  He also was a former firefighter with the Lincolnton Volunteer Fire Department, a former emergency medical technician with the Lincoln County EMS, a former chief and member of the Lincoln County Rescue Squad, the former chairman and member of the Lincoln County Library Board, a former director and member of the Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, a founding member, director, producer, and cast member of the Olde Lincoln Towne Players, a former director and cast member of the Washington Little Theater Company, a project manager for the 1996 Lincoln County Court House Restoration Project, a co-founder of Lincoln County TV, and initiated the broadcasts of the LCHS Red Devil football.  Mr. Beggs served as Clerk of Lincoln County Superior Court for twenty-four years, was a Foster Pet Parent with LC Paws, and attended First Assembly of God-Lincolnton.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Beth Smalley Beggs; son, Benjamin Charlton Beggs and special friend, Hannah Gallagher; daughter, Bethany Lauren Beggs; brothers, Brian Beggs and wife, Tracy, Keith Beggs and wife, Candy, and Kevin Beggs and wife, Kimberly; and a number of nieces and nephews that were very special to him.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 3 p.m. at First Assembly of God - Lincolnton. Interment will follow in the Lincolnton City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Lincoln County Court House, 210 Humphrey Street, on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
