Bobby Monroe Penton

Bobby Monroe Penton, a man whose life was marked by resilience, faith, and a steadfast spirit, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on July 16, 1946, in Meridian, Mississippi, Bobby was the son of the late Houston Monroe and Verlie Page Penton. He spent his childhood years in the Harrisburg community of Augusta, where he cultivated a deep connection with the people and places around him.

During Bobby's working life, he dedicated it to the craft of paint and body work in Augusta, contributing over two decades of skilled labor at Georgia Paint and Body and Kendricks Paint and Body.

Life presented many hardships for Bobby, yet through every trial, his faith in Jesus remained a constant beacon. There was a time when he found shelter in a friend’s barn, and when he relocated to his own property in Lincoln County in 1986, he demonstrated extraordinary perseverance by living in a tent for two years before securing a manufactured home. These years of struggle only deepened Bobby’s spiritual devotion and resolve.

A devout Christian, Bobby knew the Bible with an intimacy born of years of diligent study, comparable to that of a seminary graduate. His faith was more than personal; it was a mission. He worked earnestly to lead others to Christ and was a member of the First Assembly of God, where he sang in the church choir for many years, bringing joy and inspiration to the congregation.

In addition to his faith and work, Bobby found pleasure in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, relishing the challenge and tranquility of turkey hunting and fishing. In his later years, he shared this passion by selling fishing rods and tackle, staying connected to the activities he loved.

Bobby Monroe Penton's life story is one of enduring strength, unwavering faith, and quiet generosity. His legacy is carried on through those who knew him and were touched by his spirit. Rest in peace, Bobby, your journey on earth may have closed, but the light of your faith and perseverance shines on forever.

He is survived by his sister, Myrl Abear and  dear friends Andy and Beth Warner.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later time by Beggs Funeral Home Lincolnton.
