Thomson, Georgia- Mr. Bobby Wayne Akers, Sr., 60, entered into rest October 17, 2017.

Mr. Bobby Wayne Akers, Sr. was born in Cullman, Alabama, the son of the late Franklin Akers and the late Betty Stapleton Akers.  He was a life-long resident of McDuffie County and a Baptist by faith.  Mr. Akers had worked at Thomson Roofing for many years before becoming a self-employed roofer.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Franklin Akers, and sister, Brenda Cawley.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Lynn Harrison Akers; sons, Bobby Wayne Akers, Jr. (Lauren) of Grovetown, GA, Joey Akers (Ashlee) of Thomson, GA and Brandon Akers, of Gibson, GA; daughter, Corena Akers of Augusta, GA; brother, Charles Akers of Cornelia, GA; and 12 grandchildren, Cayden Cartledge, Krislyn Wiseman, Rabun Akers, Rylee Akers, Kamron Stalcup, Jacob Stalcup, Gabe Stalcup, Keagan Stalcup, Jostlyn Wilson, Oakley Wilson, Callie Hall, and Colton Hall.

Graveside services will be held at 11 o'clock a.m., Thursday, October 19, 2017 in the Walker Cemetery, Dearing, GA with the Rev. Butch Baston officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the funeral home.
