Betty Jean "Betsy" Barnett, 72, Lincolnton, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on July 31, 2024.
She was born in Orlando, Florida on March 19, 1952, grew up in Kingstree, SC, lived most of her life and established her family in Washington, Georgia, moving later to Lincolnton, Georgia. Betsy graduated high school in 1970 and attended Anderson College. She taught at the First Baptist Church Preschool for many years, owned and operated Simpson's Corner Daycare after her time at the First Baptist Church and finished her career with GA TASC. She enjoyed the beach, traveling with her husband, loved her family and friends and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, who affectionately called her Pippa.
Betsy was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, James "Jimmy" E. Barnett and her parents, James Shelby and Dorothy Mae Stripling Dunford and her sisters Mary Dunford and Dottie Dunford Arnette. Her survivors include her sons, James "Jamie" Barnett and Brad Barnett; her daughter, Maegen Ware (Blake); her sister, Jamie Reese and her grandchildren, Cassidy Barnett, Addison Ware, Charlotte Ware and Jaxson Ware.
A Memorial Service will be held on August 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., Historic Wrightsboro Church, 4713 Wrightsboro Road, Thomson, Georgia. Please visit www.beggsfuneralhome.net to sign the family's personal guestbook.
