BETH NEWSOME THOMSON MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER MRS. BETH NEWSOME of HWY 80 WARRENTON, GA entered into rest November 23, 2007. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 29, 2007 from the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Michael Cook and Elliott Fulmer officiating. Interment will follow in the Gibson Cemetery, Gibson, GA. Pallbearers will be: Claude Powell, Robert Waller, Steve Smith, Neal Tam, Aaron Hall and Barry O'Neill. Mrs. Newsome was born in Omaha, Nebraska, moved to Georgia in 1962 and lived in Glascock County, Georgia since 1979. She was a graduate of Georgia Southern Teachers College. A Georgia educator for 30 years, Mrs. Newsome state of Georgia where she taught in Glynn, Chatham, Warren, Glascock and McDuffie Counties. She was recognized as a Star Teacher in both McDuffie County and Glascock County School Systems. Mrs. Newsome was named the 1987 Teacher of the Year for Glascock County and the 2006-2007 Teacher of the Year for Thomson Middle School. She was a Yearbook Sponsor and a member of the Merry Tillers Garden Club. The family said that education had been her lifelong commitment. Survivors Include: Husband: Gaynor Newsome - Warrenton, GA Son: Joshua Alexander Newsome - Tacoma, Washington Daughter: Paige Summer Culberson and her husband J.C. - Austin, Texas Mother: Mary Elizabeth Bowers - Atlanta, GA Brothers: David Lawrence Bowers - Woodstock, GA Jeffrey Lisle Bowers - Tucker, GA Greg Allen Bowers - Oakwood, GA Grandchildren: Libby Kate Culberson and Peyton Summer Culberson. Mrs. Newsome was preceded in death by her father Lawrence Summer Bowers. The family will receive friends from 5 until 9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
