BENNY McGAHEE RETIRED EMS DIRECTOR After a long battle with cancer Mr. Benny McGahee of Beulah Lane, Thomson, GA entered into rest December 11, 2007 at Trinity Hospice with his wife at his side. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM , Friday , December 14, 2007 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sue Meehan officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Warren DeBeaugrine, Bobby W. Johnson, Jimmy Maddox, Gene Walker, Dexter Lovins, Allan Johnson, Marvin Shelton. Mr. McGahee was born in Wilkes County,GA but lived in Warren and McDuffie County most of his life. He served as a staff manager from 1960-1970 at Security Life Insurance Company, worked in his step-dads grocery store in Norwood,GA from 1970-1975, served as Warren County Emergency Medical Services Director from 1975-1985, served as Washington County Emergency Medical Services Director from 1993-1998, and returned to Warren County and worked until retirement in September 2002, serving once again as Director. During Mr. McGahee's service as Director he received several honors such as Paramedic of the Year for Washington County, an Award from the State of Georgia for Dedication and Professionalism and Paramedic of the Year from Warren County. Mr. McGahee served as Coroner of Warren County from 1977 to 1993. He was also a member of Young Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife Donna McGahee- Thomson,GA Daughters: Carla McGahee- Augusta, GA Jenny McGahee- New York, New York Mother: Frances McGahee Griffith- Norwood,GA Sister: Margaret Barrett- Covington, GA Sister-in-law: Yvonne Morris- Augusta,GA The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
