Benny Steven Hicks

Mr.  Benny Hicks, 50, Thomson, Georgia, entered into rest on June 29, 2021.

Benny was born in Gainesville, Georgia, on September 8, 1970, grew up in Dahlonega, Georgia, graduated from Lumpkin County High School in 1988, graduated from Augusta Technical College and obtained his degree as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.  He was the son of the late Walter Bobby Hicks and Barbara Sexton Hicks.  Benny always had a good sense of humor and made people smile, and everyone who met him loved him.  He especially enjoyed spending time with  his son, Cameron, and their camping trips together, even after Ben had his leg amputated from cancer.  His courage and strength were admirable.  Ben loved his family, friends, and his cat, Sadie Bear.

He was preceded in death by his parents and  his wife, Towanna Dawn.  Survivors include his son, Cameron Hicks; his sister, Bobbie Jane Ingram (Richard Van); a niece, Dayna Spaulding; a nephew, Andrew Janney;  his aunts, Barbara Cwik (Joe), Martha Sexton Hartley (James); his Uncles, Jerry Sexton, Gene Sexton (Fran), William Sexton (Judy); numerous beloved cousins,  and his fiancée, Connie Hallum.

Ben wanted his neighbors, especially Janis Hammar and Karen Hyman, who helped him through his long illness, to know how much he appreciated them.
