Mr. Benjamin Cary Cranford, Sr. was born in Summerville, South Carolina on August 20, 1953 and went to his final resting place on February 1, 2021.  He was the son of the late Ellis Buffington Cranford, Sr. and Leila Hutto Cantrell.

Mr. Cranford was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ellis Cranford, Jr., and Sister, Dorothy Young.  He is survived by his companion, Louise Stevenson of Warrenton; Sons, Benji Cranford (Emmalee) of Thomson and Cary Cranford of Thomson; Daughter, April Cranford Shirey (Gene) of Harlem; Brother, Billy Cranford (Eileen) of Augusta; Sisters, Betty Hendricks (J.L) of Thomson, Jewel Wilson of Thomson, and Beth Cushman of Thomson; and Grandchildren, Shelbie Cranford, Canaan Cranford, Benjamin C. Cranford, III, J. P. Cranford, Sam Cranford, Luke Shirey and Jake Shirey.

Mr. Cranford grew up and lived most of his life in Thomson-McDuffie County, and went to Thomson High School.  He served the community in his life's work as a self-employed finish carpenter, and he enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, Thomson, GA with Rev. Charles Reese, Officiating.  The family will receive friends at the graveside.
