In Memory of Benice Graham
August 19, 1936 - February 26, 2015
Born in Tracy City, Tennessee, Ben lived a life that took him to different corners of this country and the world, making memories with everyone he met along the way. Independent from a young age, Ben spent 22 years in the US Army where he was military policeman, attained the rank of Sergeant First Class, served in Vietnam, and was a knuckleball pitcher. Following his service, Ben reinvented himself as a woodworking instructor where he helped countless people make crafts, furniture, and everything else in between. Ben was a collector, hunter, fisher, reader, and voracious watcher of the Atlanta Braves. Ben leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Rosalene Graham; 3 sons Mike Graham, Steve Graham, and Chris Hancock (Anne); his grandson William; his brothers and sisters; nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. He will be sorely missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, we request that memorial contributions in Ben's memory be made to Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy.
Ben's 12 year old grandson William lives with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD) has been an important charity to him and his family.
About PPMD Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD) is the largest most comprehensive nonprofit organization in the United States focused on finding a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy—our mission is to end Duchenne. We invest deeply in treatments for this generation of young men affected by Duchenne and in research that will benefit future generations. We advocate in Washington, DC, and have secured hundreds of millions of dollars in funding. We demand optimal care, and we strengthen, unite, and educate the global Duchenne community. Everything we do—and everything we have done since our founding in 1994—helps boys with Duchenne live longer, stronger lives. We will not rest until every young man has a treatment to end Duchenne. -
