Mr. Barney C. Zellars, 79, of Hephzibah Church Rd., entered into rest on Friday, September 23 rd at his residence.
Mr. Zellars, son of the late Henry and Cannie Mae Sims Zellars, was a lifelong resident of Lincoln County. He had worked in masonry, and carpentry in his earlier years; he was later a policeman and dispatcher for the Washington Police Department. For many years, he operated Zellars Vault Company. He was an accomplished musician in the blues and bluegrass genre' and enjoyed whenever the opportunity was given to play at the Annual Little Roy and Lizzy Music Festival. In addition, he was a master syrup maker, and demonstrated his talent each year at the Lincoln County Historical Society's Pioneer Day.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Perry Lee Zellars, Barney Zellars; brothers, Ellis Zellars, Jonas Zellars, Henry Zellars, Nathan Zellars, Willie Zellars, and sisters, Ruth Troutman, Clara Parks, and Sallie Gordon
Survivors:
Wife : Frances Fair Zellars
Sons : Lemuel Zellars, and Curtis Paschall
Daughters: Elaine Zellars, Laverne Z. Jones, and Jacqueline Zellars
Sister: Alma Z. Ferrell
Many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 27th at 2 pm at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Wilkes County. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 26 th from 7pm until 8pm at the funeral home.
