Barbara Guthrie Gibbs

Mrs. Barbara Rebecca Guthrie Gibbs, 78, of Guillebeau Road in Lincolnton, Georgia entered into rest at her home on August 11, 2022.

The funeral service is planned for Sunday, August 14, 2022, at 3 pm at Goshen Baptist Church with the interment following in the church cemetery.  A visitation will be at Beggs Funeral Home on Saturday evening, August 13, 2022, from 6-8 pm.  The family requests casual attire for both services.

Barbara was born in Augusta, Georgia to the late Virginia Norman and late Ernest I. Guthrie, Sr.  She was raised in the Bayvale area and graduated from Richmond Academy. Barbara married the love of her life, Billy, on July 6, 1962 and they had four children. Her career started around 1981 as an administrative secretary in the oral surgery department of the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry and she retired after 21 years of service.  Later she worked 10 years at the Lincolnton Radio Shack where she loved helping their customers with their electronic needs.  Mrs. Gibbs loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them along with her pets, Nell, Grace and Les.  Barbara was an avid reader. She also loved bird watching.

Along with her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her step-father, Charles Guillebeau, and great- grandchild, Waylon Gibbs.  She will be missed by her husband of 60 years, John W. "Billy" Gibbs, sons, Russell Gibbs, and wife Betty, Steven Gibbs, and wife Melissa and Michael Gibbs; daughter, Delane Wade and husband Kevin all of Lincolnton, sister, Gail Remsen, brother, Ernie Guthrie and wife Renee; lifelong best friend, Ellen Woods and husband Forrest, aunts, Ellie Ruth Beggs and Mickey C. Norman,

12 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren, 2 great- great- grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
