Asher Bennett Fields

Our darling boy, Asher Bennett Fields, was born on April 14th, 2010 and departed this earth and entered into the arms of his living Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of March 10th, 2026. At this very moment, Asher worships in the presence of the Most High. His name was chosen because his first and middle name mean “happiness.” Because we were so happy to learn of our special #2. He was full of joy, full of surprises, full of bravery, full of life. As Asher grew, he shared his infectious personality with friends in Wisconsin, Arkansas, Ohio, and Georgia. Asher never knew a stranger, and his compassionate heart sat with those who needed it whether in a classroom, a lunchroom, or anywhere he could be a friend. When he wasn’t gaming on his Meta VR, Asher was chasing game in our yard and with his friend, Shelby, in the beautiful landscapes of our beautiful Wilkes County. He absolutely loved the outdoors. He loved art, including ceramics and had the opportunity to work with some of the finest in the art world, including Nutter Mudder – a Wilkes County local and some of Harvard’s and Santa Fe’s finest in the art world. He also loved the art of poultry farming with the Callaway family, the only place he’d voluntarily wear jeans. When he wasn’t donning his many, many prized designer sneakers, Asher was wearing his boxing gloves, where he forged friendships and had the gospel of Christ poured into him by his wonderful friends at Armor of God Boxing. Asher was truly a renaissance boy, and we know that he’d be turning his favorite color – pink – embarrassed by all our bragging on how talented and beautiful a human being he was. And that color of pink (and others) would very well match some of the amazing graffiti tagging in his sketching notebook. Though he was not quite 16, Asher lived a lifetime that so many of us never dare to dream. Each moment a gift from his Creator.

Asher is survived by his loving parents, Mark Austin and Shari (Sharon) Lynette Fields, his older sister, Esmé Arabella, and his little brother, Audric Hanan. All of them looked up to Asher. Oceans of words cannot encapsulate what Asher meant to them - and how very much they all loved him with every fiber of their beings. He is survived by his loving Meemaw, Anita L. Fields and preceded in death by his Pawpaw, James W. Fields, Sr. who we know greeted him with the hug that only he could give. Asher is remembered and honored by his Aunt Amy, Uncle Aaron, cousins Jackson (Emma), Harrison, Pierce, and Gracie Grzymkowski, Uncle Jim, Aunt Tina, cousins Abigail and Cole Fields. He is also survived by his Grandparents, Terry and Ruthanne O’Brien, as well as Aunt Shelley, Uncle Bob, and cousins Matthew and Nolan Johaness. He leaves behind countless cousins – who are also dear friends - scores more of friends, and too many people that loved him and will always do so.

As we entrust our sweet boy into the care of the Almighty and Most High, we know that we do not grieve as those who do not have hope, for our hope and our salvation is in the Lord, Jesus Christ. What we know our mourning today will be turned into joy on that morning of glorious resurrection.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 2pm until 3pm at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at 3pm at Faith Community Church with cremation following.

In lieu of flowers, we know Asher would appreciate a monetary gift to his friends at Mission Church in Korat, Thailand. It was in Korat that he made lifelong friends and will be reunited in Heaven with them someday as we all profess in one tongue that Jesus Christ is Lord.
