Thomson, GA. - Mr. Arthur A. Shelton, 80 of Earle Street entered into rest April 18, 2011 at Select Speciality in Augusta. He was the beloved husband of Alma J. Shelton.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Rev. George Nichols officiating.
Mr. Shelton was a native of Hancock County and lived in McDuffie County most of his life. He was the son of the late Thomas E. and Susie Hammock Shelton. Mr. Shelton served in the U.S. Army during the Koren Conflict. He was a retired supervisor from Thomson Company after 42 years of service. Mr. Shelton was a member of Thomson First Baptist Church. He also attended Washington Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Johnson Shelton, Thomson, GA; son, Danny L. Shelton of Hanahan, SC; step sons, A. Mitch Jones of Evans, GA, and W. Mark Jones of Prosperity, SC; step daughters, C. Kay Jones of Atlanta, GA and Gayle J. Matoy of Warner Robins, GA; grandchildren, Mallory Jones, Samatha Jones, Jennie Matoy, and Aaron Dye, and four nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Shelton.
