Ann Hatley Houck, 70, of Savannah Lakes Village, McCormick SC, passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Born on January 8, 1947, in Lenoir, NC, she was the eldest child of Ellis E. and Helen J. Hatley (deceased) of Hudson, NC.  Ann was a loving mother , devoted wife of 51 years and is survived by her husband, Larry.

In addition to her husband, Ann is survived by her daughter, Lauri (Houck) Stilwell and husband Darren, of Lenoir, NC; her son, Carey James Houck and wife, Julie (Egan), of Charlotte NC; grandsons, Benjamin Roy Pannenbacker and wife, Emma (Dobbin) of Lenoir, NC; Luke Aaron Pannenbacker of Lenoir, NC; Riley James Houck of Hudson, NC; granddaughters, Rachel Ellis Houck of Hudson, NC, Madeleine Grace Houck, of Charlotte, NC; great-grandson, Liam Roy Pannenbacker, of Lenoir, NC; brother, James E. Hatley of Charlotte, NC; sister, Kathryn H. Hicks, of Hudson, NC and nephew, David J. Hicks and family of Conover, NC.

Ann was a woman of faith and dedicated member of Lutheran Church By The Lake in McCormick, SC, where she served in numerous capacities over the years, as well as an associate member of St. Philip Lutheran Church in Myrtle Beach, SC. The Lutheran faith and traditions were a vital part of Ann's life, as evidenced by the numerous former and current Pastors who remained a member of her close circle of friends.

A consummate homemaker and gracious hostess, Ann was known for her love of cooking, entertaining and her family.  Early in life, Ann found a respect for home economics and all things that make a house a home.  Ann became a talented seamstress, exceptional self-taught cook and was an excellent financial planner.  Ann and Larry's home exemplified Ann's joy of gardening and decorating.

Ann was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-mother and always placed her faith and family first.  She truly enjoyed spending time, keeping in touch and socializing with dear friends in her home, community and favorite place, the beach. Ann's devotion to Larry and their marriage was evident by her ability to adapt through their numerous career relocations.  Ann was greatly loved by her entire family and will be dearly missed.

The family will receive friends and family from 2:00-3:00 pm this Sunday June 25 th , 2017 followed by a memorial service at the Lutheran Church By The Lake at 3:00 pm.  An additional memorial service will be held in Ann's hometown, Hudson, NC at a date to be determined.

At the family's request, in lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Lutheran Church By The Lake, 100 Twelve Oaks Dr. McCormick, SC 29835 or St. Philip Lutheran Church 6200 N. Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572.
