Alverardo R. Grilly
Mr. Alverardo R. Grilly formerly of Lansing, IL, late of Thomson, GA, passed away on June 27, 2013. Born on July 14, 1920 in Chicago Heights, IL. He was a lifelong Entertainer/Pianist/Organist/Vocalist and performed under the professional name of Russ Holliday. He appeared with his wife and vocalist Donna Leigh as a duo for thirty years at many of the finest supper clubs in the Midwest as well as the Calumet region.
Mr. Grilly is survived by his devoted wife Donna; he was the loving father of Brian (Courtney) Grilli of Virginia Beach, VA, Lanny Grilly, Robert Grilly and David Grilly, all of Chicago, IL. He was the caring stepfather of Patricia (Edward) Redmond of Norwood, GA. and Timothy O'Hyrn of Largo, FL; proud grandfather of Sarah, Olivia, Adelina and Justino Grilli, Max and Lauren Grilly, Jennifer and Edward Redmond and Krysta O'Hyrn; fond brother of Joseph (Susan) Grilli of Chicago Heights, IL. many nieces and nephews; family and friends. Mr. Grilly was a WWII, USCG veteran and retired member of the AFM Local 10-208 Chicago, IL. He was also a member of the Lansing Lions Club and served as a reading tutor in Lansing's Elementary schools.
Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady Queen of Angles Catholic Church, by Father Bill Williams in memory of Mr. Grilly. Services will be private. The joy he brought to so many with his beautiful tenor voice and the music he played will be greatly missed, but the heavenly choir will be greatly enhanced.
