Alton Norman Hart

Mr. Alton Norman Hart, 75 of Reese Rd., Thomson, Georgia went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2022 while hospitalized in Augusta, Georgia. Alton was a member of Brideage Tabernacle Church in Lincolnton.

He was born to Irving Mortimer Hart and Gwendolyn Avis (Bailey) Hart in Warwick, Rhode Island on March 15, 1947. Mr. Hart joined the United States Army in 1966; he would later serve in Vietnam. While in Vietnam, Alton was injured and received a purple heart for his battle related injuries.

After leaving the service as a disabled veteran, Alton worked in a number of occupations. He worked in a chemical processing plant, on a river barge, as a rural route newspaper carrier and in a nursing home.

He had a number of hobbies which included woodworking, shooting black powder guns, and music and civil war reenactments. He was an avid student of history and greatly enjoyed reading anything related to history.

Alton is survived by his sister Joan Landry of Metairie, Louisiana and his brother Leslie Hart of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma Jean Hart, his parents, his sister Marion Bolduc and his brother Kenneth Hart.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery 2617 Vinson Highway Milledgeville, Georgia 31061.
