Gibson, GA - Mr. Allen Gilmer, 72, entered into rest February 29, 2016 at Gibson Health and Rehabilitation.

Mr. Gilmer grew up in McDuffie County, GA and lived in Glascock County most of his life. He was the son of the late Hoke Gilmer and the late Gertrude Davis Gilmer. Mr. Gilmer was retired from Yancey Brothers Caterpillar with over 40 years of service. He was a member and deacon of Magnolia Baptist Church. Mr. Gilmer was also a Mason and a member of the Gibson Lodge #257. He was also predeceased by his beloved wife, Elaine Swint Gilmer.

Survivors include his son, Michael Gilmer ( Stephanie); grandchildren, Breanna Gilmer and Boone Gilmer all of Gibson, GA; brother, Clarence Gilmer of Warner Robbins, GA ;and sister, Frances Randall (Gene) of Carnesville, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock p.m., Thursday, March 3rd at Magnolia Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Harwell and Rev. James Canada officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites. Pallbearers will be: Mike Neal, David Kitchens, Levy Swint, Ronnie Hadden, Gene Randall, and James Harrison.

It is the family's request that memorial contributions be made to the Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Louis Swint, P.O. Box 95, Gibson, GA 30810.

Mr. Gilmer's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Gibson Health and Rehabilitation for the excellent care provided.

Friends may call anytime after 12 noon, Wednesday at the Gilmer Residence, 3990 Bastonville Rd., Gibson, GA.
