Mrs. Alice Newsome Cook Pettit 90 of Thomson, GA entered into rest March 16, 2009 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Cook and the late Thomas R. Pettit.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel in Thomson, GA with Rev Ficklen Guin officiating. Interment will follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Robert McCarty, Andy McCarty, David McCarty, Tripp Kennedy, Brad Belcher, and Kevin Belcher.
Mrs. Pettit was a native of Wilkes County but has lived in Thomson, GA most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Mansfield Newsome and the late Emma Waters Newsome. Mrs. Pettit was a homemaker, a member of Greenwood Baptist Church and she attended New Providence.

Gail Pettit Belcher - Augusta, GA
Brother: Tom Wood Newsome - Minnesota
11 Grandchildren - 19 Great Grandchildren - 7 Great Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by a daughter Emogene Cook Kennedy.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Tuesday at the funeral home.
