Alexander Wideman, Sr.

Alexander Wideman Sr., 85 passed away peacefully at his home on Monday February 27. Alexander was born on July 19, 1937 to Miss Lelia Wideman and Mr. Willie Perrin in McCormick, South Carolina.

Although Alexander did not attend church on a regular basis, he was a member of Mt. Zion in McCormick. He may not have been a devoted church member, but he loved the Lord, and it is our belief that he had a strong relationship with Him.

Alexander, Hilltop Kid (his CB handle), began driving log trucks at the age of 18 and continued to haul logs, chips, and other cargo over the course of more than 57 years. He was last employed by Aycock Chip Co. for over 20 years before he retired at the age of 75.

Alexander was a gentle kind man who loved his family. He is survived by his wife Kathy, five children; Lizzie (Johnnie) Mason, Belinda (John) DeWitt, Zelda, Alex, and Lelia Wideman, two step-daughters; Brenda (Mark) Zellars, and Kathleen Tutt (deceased), 22 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, a cherished niece, April B. Jones, two granddaughters who went the extra mile to help care for him, Tamesha Henderson and Teresa H. Jones, one sister; Nina Middleton, one brother; George Perrin, one brother-in-law; Alvin (Bessie) Jasper, two sisters-in-laws; Carolyn Bussey and Earlean Turner, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Beggs Funeral Home Lincolnton is honored to serve the family of Mr. Alexander Wideman, Sr.
