Wilda Fernandez

Ms. Wilda Alice Effler Fernandez. 73, of Forest Hill Road, Elberton, completed her life’s journey on Friday, April 26, 2019, at her residence while surrounded by the love of those closest to her.
Wilda was born in Maryville, TN on February 5, 1946, daughter of the late Wilbur Lawrence Effler and Emma Alice Brockman Effler. She touched the lives of many through her work at Elbert County Primary, Middle, and High Schools as a paraprofessional and as a substitute teacher throughout the Elbert County School System. She was a current member of the Elbert County Historical Society and the Elbert Theatre Foundation, and a former member of Beta Sigma Phi and Elberton Civic League. Wilda was a faithful Christian and an avid reader who enjoyed visits to Cade’s Cove. 
Survivors include her sons and “bonus daughters”: David and Anne Fernandez and Danny and Mary Fernandez and her beloved grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “Nana”: Amanda, Hannah, Matthew, and Sarah Beth. She also leaves behind “her honey”, her faithful and loyal companion of 21 years, Frank L. Bone as well as his children Dennis and Sherri, both of whom she loved as her own. Surviving siblings include Bobby and Linda Effler, Nanci and Steve Smith, Kay “Peanut” and Van Schwartz, Cathi and Steve Barr, and Larry and Judy Effler, and special friend, Betty Thompson.
Memorial services celebrating her life will be held on Monday, April 29, at 6 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Fernandez officiating. Friends wishing to share their favorite stories will have an opportunity to do so during the service.
The family is at the residence of David and Anne Fernandez, 1905 Indian Springs Road, Elberton, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 4:00-6:00p.m. on Sunday afternoon, April 28.
