Rev. Terrell Blackmon

Rev. Terrell “Terry” Blackmon, 84, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Lake Crossing Health Care, Appling, Georgia. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 11 at 11 o'clock at West Acres Baptist Church, Evans, Georgia. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Fishing Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Wilkes County. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Rev. Blackmon, son of the late Druid J. and Julia David Blackmon, was born in Wilkes County and lived in Lincoln County most of his life. He was the retired owner of Blackmon’s Welding and Shoreline Docks. Rev. Blackmon also pastored Loco Baptist Church in Lincoln County for 17 years. He proudly served our country in the US Army in the 101st Airborne Division and in the 10th Special Forces Group. Rev. Blackmon was a member of West Acres Baptist Church in Evans, Georgia.

In addition to his parents, his first wife, Jackie Guin Blackmon, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Thetford Blackmon; daughter, Marianne B. Jones and husband, Mike; son, Rev. David Blackmon and wife, Susan; stepson, Zachariah Barnett; sister, Judy Lamb and husband Wyman; grandchildren, Michael Jones, Jr. and wife Kileigh, Drew Jones and wife Kelli, Jon Blackmon and wife Celia, Ryan Blackmon and wife Hillary, Elizabeth Jones and husband Cody; great- grandchildren, Wyatt Jones, Addison Jones, and Jackson Jones.
