Mr. Manuel Steed Hunter, 75, of Berkshire Dr., Washington, entered into rest on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at his mother’s residence in Taliaferro County.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Washington. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery, Washington. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the church.
Pallbearers will be David Hunter, Michael Hunter, John Hunter, Warren P. Newsome, Brittany Allgood, Ansley Newsome, Bailey Guthrie, Hunter Newsome, Tyler Hunter, Sarah Grace Hunter
Honorary Pallbearers will be Friendship Sunday School Class
Mr. Hunter, a native of Taliaferro County, had lived in Washington since 1971. He was an active member and had served as a Deacon of First Baptist Church, Washington where he had served in numerous capacities including, the youth Sunday School Department and drove the church bus for the seniors and youth. He worked for Nash-Wills Motor Company for a number of years. Afterwards, he was employed by Mike Thornton Trucking and Thornton Brothers Logging. Mr. Hunter was also a former member of Washington Lions Club. His father, Cecil Steed Hunter, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathryn Veazey Hunter; mother, Grace Thornton Hunter; sons, Michael “Mike” Steed Hunter and wife, Debra, John Veazey Hunter, and wife, Erin; daughter, Lisa Hunter Newsome, and husband, Warren; brother, David L. Hunter, and wife, Gail; grandchildren, Brittany Allgood, and husband Tim, Ansley Newsome, Bailey Guthrie, Hunter Newsome, Tyler Hunter and Sarah Grace Hunter; great- grandchildren, Hadley and Finley Allgood.
