James Richard Mullis
Thomson, GA- Mr. James Richard “Jim” Mullis, 87, of Johns Rd., Thomson, GA entered into rest November 15, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Mullis was born in Cadwell, Georgia to the late Richard Johnson Mullis and Effie Floyd Mullis. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1948 and served during the Korean Conflict, in Manilla, Philippines and served in Vietnam. He also served as a meat inspector for the Department of Agriculture retiring as Supervisor over District #3 with 25 years of service. He served as a volunteer with McDuffie County Fire Services since 1971 and served as a volunteer with the City of Thomson Fire Department for over 25 years.Mr. Mullis was a member of the A. J. Miller Masonic Lodge #204, Scottish Rite and Shriners in Tacoma, Washington. He was also a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mullis was predeceased by his son, Ricky Mullis and his wife, Willa "Joy" Mullis.
Survivors include his daughters, Jamie M. Sewell (Stephen) of Thomson, Karen Henry (Robert); sister, Wynette Bishop (Jimmy) of McDonough; grandchildren, Michael Crosby (Sabrina) of Hephzibah, Alecia Clements (Casey) of Swainsboro, J. R. Mullis II, Camille) of Arizona, Chris Mullis (Brittany) of Thomson and Mikayla Mitchell of Swainsboro, Kaleigh Crosby of Arizona, Charlee Crosby of Harlem, Taylor Shaw, River Jones Clements, of Swainsboro, Bentley and Brodie Mitchell of Swainsboro, Koen and Lily Clare Mullis of Thomson and Ricky and Jackson Mullis of Arizona.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Sweetwater Baptist Church with Pastors Bryant Neal and Chris Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors. McDuffie County Emergency Services will be Honorary Pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
It is the family’s desire that memorial contributions be made to Sweetwater Baptist Church.
