Mrs. Frances Fair Zellars, 80, wife of the late Barney Zellars of Hephzibah Church Rd., Lincolnton entered into rest on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at her residence.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at noon at the historic St. James AME Church, Henry m. Turner St., Abbeville, SC with a viewing beginning at 11 am in the church sanctuary. Interment will follow in the Harbison Cemetery, Abbeville.
Frances Ethel Lucille Fair Zellars the sixth child of the Late Beaulo and Janie Thomas Fair was born on May 26, 1939 in Abbeville County, South Carolina. Frances left her earthly home for her eternal home on August 4, 2019.
Frances, christian foundation began from the nourishment of her parents and her attending church with her family. Frances accepted Christ as her Lord & Savior and joined Clear Springs A.M.E. Church. She later moved her membership to St. James A.M.E. Church and remained a member until death. Even though she didn’t always attend St. James A.M.E.Church she affiliated herself with the Washington Circuit of A.M.E.Churches. Frances would also attend church with her late husband Barney Zellars, Sr. at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church.
Frances, was educated in the Public Schools of Abbeville County, South Carolina. She graduated from Josephine Spearman Wright High School (J.S.Wright High School) class of 1957. Following in the footsteps of her family members she attended and graduated from Allen University, Columbia, South Carolina in the class of 1962.
Frances, professional career started with her teaching in the Public Schools of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Following her sister Sallie to Wilkes County she started teaching in Wilkes County Public Schools at the primary school. She taught in Wilkes County until she retired. In her spare time she prepared income taxes for many years. Frances was a member of the Retired Educators Association of Wilkes County and severed as President for several years.
Frances was proceeded in death by her husband Barney Zellars, Sr., her parents Beaulo & Janie Thomas Fair and seven siblings Pauline Fair Thomas, Marion Beaulo Mae Fair, Catherine Eddie Ruth Fair, John Allen Fair, Simon William Henry Fair, Sallie Christine Fair, and Janie Rebecca Fair Harris.
Frances leaves to mourn her passing and treasure her legacy: her last sibling/sister Ms. Thelma V. Fair, Abbeville, SC , her stepson whom she called her son Mr. Lemuel (Ramona) Zellars, Augusta, GA, Goddaugther/Niece: Ms. Sabrina S. Fair, Charlotte, NC, and Godson: Mr. Kristmundsdottir’ (Gwendolyn) Jackson, Washington, GA, other stepchildren: Mr. Curtis Paschall, Ms. Elaine Zellars, Ms. Laverne Zellars Jones, and Ms. Jacqueline Zellars, one brother - in - law Mr. Norman E. Harris, Sr.,Indian Trail, NC, two sister - in - laws: Ms. Wilma Fair, Jonesboro, GA and Ms. Alma Zellars Ferrell, Lincolnton, GA, three step-grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
