Mrs. Edna Dickson Lamar, 97 of Hulin Ave. entered into rest on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Southern Manor Senior Living, Washington, Ga.
Mrs. Lamar, daughter of the late Joseph G. and Ethel Johnson Dickson, was a native of Hancock County, Ga. She graduated from Bessie Tift College and first taught high school mathematics at Tignall High School and then at Washington Wilkes Comprehensive High School for over 40 years. During her career, she was selected as STAR teacher 5 different times. She was a member of Tignall Baptist Church, Tignall Homemakers Club and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Lamar, daughter, Elizabeth Archer, siblings, James Hermet Dickson, Mary Lou Reynolds, Joseph Walton Dickson, Marion Christene Whitten, Margaret Elizabeth Hadden, and Henry Green Dickson.
Survivors include her son, Ernest Lamar and wife, Faye of Tignall; Grandchildren, Tracy L. Beggs and husband, Brian of Tignall, Bruce Lamar and wife, Gretchen of Tignall and Gary Archer; great- grandchildren, Erin Thornton, Hadley Beggs, Alex Lamar, Ty Lamar, and Zane Lamar.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 24, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Tignall Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Tignall Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2pm until the hour of the funeral at the church on Friday.
