Diana Powell Dent

Mrs. Diana Powell Dent, 81 of White Oak Rd., Lincolnton, Ga. entered into rest on Monday, December 9, 2019 at Abbeville Area Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Double Branches Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday morning beginning at 10 a.m. until the hour of the service in the church social hall.

Mrs. Dent, daughter of the late Harvey W. and Lucille Ward Powell, was born in Valdosta, Ga. on July 2, 1938. In 1975, following her husband Julian’s transfer as a State Fire Marshal, they moved from Waycross to the Double Branches Community of Lincoln County. During the 1980’s she was the assistant librarian at the Lincoln County High School and later she had worked at H&R Block preparing tax returns. She was a member of Double Branches Baptist Church where she served as custodian and on the hostess committee. Her pastimes included hiking, working in her yard and bicycling, all of which she continued to do until recently. A few months ago, she had enrolled in swimming classes in Greenwood and was involved in an auto accident when returning from the last lesson of her swimming course.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian T. Dent, Sr., grandson, Gaylan Tankersley, and siblings, Clinton Powell, Hollis Powell, and Hettie Busby.

Survivors include her son, Julian T. “Tommy” Dent, Jr and wife, Susana of Due West, SC; daughter, Reba D. Tankersley of Swainsboro; brother, Harvey W. Powell, Jr. and wife Melba of Valdosta; grandchildren, Sykora Cobb, Agan Tankersley, Julian T. “Thomas” Dent, III, and Ashley Dent; great- grandchildren, Liliana Cobb, Lance Cobb, and McKenleigh Tankersley.
