Charles T. Hanson, Sr.
Thomson, GA – Mr. Charles Thomas Hanson, Sr., 72, of Cedar Creek Drive entered into rest January 29, 2019.
Charles was born in Bowden, GA to the late Lloyd Luen Hanson and the late Sibyl Gibbs Hanson. He grew up in Thomson, GA and attended Thomson High School. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during Vietnam as an Aircraft Mechanic. Following his service to our country, he worked for Southern Bell, later Bellsouth and retired from AT&T with 32 years of total service. After retirement, he worked with AT&T training crews on splicing fiber optic cable. Charles enjoyed playing string instruments, fishing, duck hunting, camping, canoeing, and taking trips to the beach with his wife and family and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Charles was also a member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Joy Seekers Sunday School. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Barry Hanson.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Joanne Parris Hanson; sons, Tommy Hanson (Deborah) of Covington, GA, Clay Hanson (Casey) of Sevierville, TN, Rodney Price (Chalina) of Martinez, GA; daughters, Candy Beggs (Keith), Tonya Morris (Gene) all of Thomson, GA; sisters, Betty Poole of Nashville, TN, Charlotte Hinman (Larry) of Thomson, GA; grandchildren, Jeri Lyn Richards (Will), Jayla Sturkey, Chase Beggs (Nicole), Trey Hanson, Will Hanson, Chandler Price, Preston Price, Rebecca Hanson, Carrington Beggs, Skylar Akridge and Britlan Price; one great grandchild, Bennett Beggs; nephew, Clint Poole; and nieces, Angie Hanson Rogers, Kelli Hanson Poston, and Libby Powell Hutcheson.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm, Friday, February 1, 2019 in the Atrium of First Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life at 2 pm in the Church Sanctuary with Rev. David Lambert officiating. Interment will follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. It is the family’s desire that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church, Ferguson Property Renovation, P. O. Box 1205, Thomson, GA 30824.
