Mrs. Catherine J. Gilbert, 88 wife of the late James W. Gilbert M.D. entered into rest on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Southern Manor, Washington, Ga.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 12:30 pm at McCormick First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:30 am until the hour of the service in the church sanctuary.

Mrs. Gilbert, daughter of the late John P. and Sarah Mattie Adams Jolly, was born in Iredell County, NC. She grew up in Kannapolis where she graduated from high school and received her RN degree from Cabbarus Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. In 1965 she moved to McCormick where she was a member of McCormick First Baptist Church and volunteered in many capacities including Hospice Care of the Piedmont for over 20 years, Helping Hands of McCormick, and Reach For Recovery. Also, she was preceded in death by her first husband Bernard Lynn; son Woody Lynn; daughter Alyson Lynn; and grandchildren Clint Jennings and Adam Jennings. In recent years, she enjoyed spending time at her home with A.J. and Eli.

Survivors include her daughters, Lou Ann Barnett and husband James of Lincolnton, Cathy Buckner and Roger Ardis of McCormick, Savannah Sabo and husband Rick of Inman, SC, Melody Shaw; sister, Mary Bryan of Carrollton, Ga; grandchildren, Laura Sayres, Brock Goff, Taylor Buckner, Katlyn Sabo, Richard Sabo, Jennifer Parrish, Joseph Brown and Angie Price; 10 great- grandchildren.
