Mrs. Barbara Jean Chafin Gassaway, 77 of Augusta Hwy. entered into rest on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at her residence.
Mrs. Gassaway, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, was the daughter of the late Austin and Elmyra Patterson Chafin. A native of Wilkes County, she had been a resident of Lincoln County since she was 18 years old and had been employed at Oxford Manufacturing and FDB. Also, she was a member of New Hope Baptist Church for many years. Her husband, Patrick H. “P.H.” Gassaway, Jr., preceded her in death.
Survivors include, sons, Patrick H. Gassaway, III, Lincolnton, David Jeffery “Jeff” Gassaway, Lincolnton; sisters, Frances Reed and husband, John of Washington, Ga., Joyce Brown, of Sharon, Ga., Kaye Lokey and husband, George of Thomson, Ga.; grandchild, Kayla G. Harris and husband, Zackary; great- grandchild, Abigail Harris.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 2 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tom Kalliokoski officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7pm until 9 pm on Monday evening at Beggs Funeral Home 200 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga.
