Mr. Alex Linsay Tyler, 78 of Tignall Rd., Washington, Ga. entered into rest on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Tignall Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Mr. Tyler’s farm which he loved so dearly. The body will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral.
Mr. Tyler was born on April 2, 1941 in Wilkes County where he has lived most of his life. Shortly after graduating in 1959, from Washington Wilkes High School, he lived in Augusta and worked for Western Electric. Then, he was employed by Pet Milk as a route salesman in Greene County for 9 years. In 1973, he became owner of Tyler’s Machine Shop, Inc. which he and his wife, Kay operated for 45 years retiring in April of 2018. Mr. Tyler, a true southern gentleman, was well known in the area as one of the most accommodating businessmen that one would ever meet. If he told you that he would give you something, he would always give more. He enjoyed serving the public but most of all, he loved God, his church, and his family. His father, Herman Tyler and infant daughter, Sheryl Suzanne Tyler, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Dunaway Tyler; sons, Jeff Tyler of Washington, DC and Greg Tyler and wife, Gena of Hoschton, Ga; mother, Mildred D. Tyler of Tignall; brothers, David Tyler and wife, Judy and Allen Tyler and wife, Faye all of Washington, Ga; grandchildren, Jordan Tyler of Ft Walton Beach, Fl., Caleb Tyler and Sydney Tyler of Hoschton, Ga; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Carolyn Gammon of Tignall, Ga.; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog Bella who was his constant companion.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tignall Baptist Church, 170 S. Hulin Ave., Tignall, Ga. 30668.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5:30pm until 7:30pm at Beggs Funeral Home, 200 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga.
