Vonnie P. Poston

Mrs. Vonnie P. Poston, 95, of Thomson, Georgia went to be with her Lord and Savior

on March 29, 2024.

Vonnie was born to the late Cully Evans Poston and the late Capitola Jane Hanna Poston. She grew up in the Hanna Community of Florence County, South Carolina. Vonnie married the late Willard Clifford “Buster” Poston and they moved to Augusta, GA in 1962. In 1968, they made their home in Thomson, GA. She taught home economics and special education for the Florence County Board of Education, Richmond County Board of Education and retired from the McDuffie County Board of Education. Vonnie was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and the Garden Study Club. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Thomson where she served as teacher of the Levian Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents and husband, Vonnie was preceded in death by her siblings, 

Survivors include her son, Cliff Poston (Jane); daughter, Jane Dean (Jeff); and six grandchildren, Cully Poston (Emma), Cleve Poston (Megan), Jad Dean (Jena), Joy Bennett (Jonathan), Hanna Meadows (Walker) and Julie Whitaker (Brett); and twelve great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will follow at 11am, Monday, April 1st in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Thomson with Dr. David Lambert and Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Church Atrium. Interment will follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
