Sadie Clara Ashmore Williams passed away peacefully on March 8, 2024, in Savannah, GA after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Born on February 3, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John Richard and Mattie LeRoy Ashmore. Sadie was a woman of unwavering faith and boundless love, embodying the essence of kindness and dedication throughout her 88 years.
Sadie graduated from Lincolnton High School in 1954, and her work ethic shone brightly in her professional life. She retired from the Augusta-Richmond County Planning & Zoning Commission after a distinguished career. Before that, she spent many years contributing her talents to Southern Bell. Sadie's commitment to her work was only surpassed by her devotion to her family and her Lord. She loved BIG!
A precious saint, Sadie was an incredible mom and grandmother who cherished her family with every fiber of her being. She is survived by her loving sons Jason Williams and his wife Faith of Savannah, GA, and Joseph "Joey" Williams and his wife Juanita of Guyton, GA, and the father of her sons, John W. Williams. Her legacy continues through her four grandchildren, Conner, Jackson, Michael, and Madison Williams who will forever treasure their moments shared with their grandmother.
Sadie's remarkable life was filled with the joy of siblinghood, as she is also survived by her brother, T.G. Ashmore and sisters, Polly Reese, Margaret White, and Matilda Finley, all originally of Lincolnton. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Laura Bussey, J.R. Ashmore, Jr., and Nathaniel Ashmore.
Her love for her Lord Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life, and she served Him faithfully. Sadie's servant’s heart shone through in every act of kindness, and she never shied away from hard work. She was famous for her fabulous cooking. Her life was a testament to her unwavering faith, and she was a great example of a life well lived. She was never one to complain, facing life's challenges with grace and resilience.
Visitation with family and friends for Mrs. Sadie Ashmore Williams will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024, at 12:30 PM at Beggs Funeral Home in Lincolnton, with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 PM. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Augusta, where Sadie’s body will be laid to rest.
