Lee "Gene" Andrews Obituary

Mr. Lee Eugene Andrews, known affectionately as Gene by his friends and family, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024, in Lincolnton, Georgia. Born on March 1, 1939, in Wilkes County, Georgia, Gene's life was marked by his kindness, his handy skills, and his love for his family and community.

Gene spent his childhood in Wilkes County, where he developed a love for the outdoors that would last a lifetime. He carried the values of hard work and dedication throughout his life, which were evident in his long career at Milliken Mills. As a warp tie-in operator, Gene was known for his meticulous attention to detail and his commitment to excellence.

After retiring, Gene devoted more time to his passion for bass fishing, often seen on his boat at the lake with a smile on his face and a fishing rod in hand.

He is survived by his son, Mark Andrews, of Elberton; his brothers, Eddie Lee Andrews, of Lincolnton and George Andrews, of Washington; his sister, Lizzie Mae Horton, of Greenwood, SC; and his sister-in-law and caregiver, Lee Young, of Lincolnton.
Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Young Andrews, with whom he shared many loving years. His brother, Ralph Andrews, and sister, Virgie Lou Jones, as well as his parents, Henry R. and Susie Mae Bowick Andrews, also predeceased him.

A graveside service is planned for Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Mt. Zion Methodist Church cemetery, 2200 Wrightsboro Road in Washington with a visitation from 2:00 PM until the time of the service in the church sanctuary.
