Annette Langham

Mrs. Annette Langham, 79, of Central Road, Thomson, GA went to be with her Lord on May 6, 2017 at University Hospital.

Mrs. Langham was a lifelong resident of Thomson, GA and the daughter of the late Clifford V. Palmer and the late Mary Will Rabun Palmer. She worked at WTWA for some time earlier in her life, but after the birth of her children became a homemaker, devoting her life to her family. Mrs. Langham spent many years as the church pianist at Mt. Beulah in Warren County. In later years, along with her family, she joined First Baptist Church in Thomson, GA where she taught Children’s Sunday School for a number of years, was a devoted member and actively involved in the Gleaner’s Sunday School and Women’s Missionary Union (WMU).  She also enjoyed serving as a volunteer greeter at the front desk at FBC for several years.   Being a believer in evangelism, she shared her strong faith with others.  She shared that faith even with the nurses and doctors whom she encountered during her final days on this earth.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Langham was predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Ron and Tinye L. Harding.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 60 years, J.C. Langham; son, Cliff Langham (Tanya); and grandchildren, Matthew Harding (Annie), Andrew Harding (Jenny), and Tori Langham; and great-grandchild, Brooks Harding.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at First Baptist Church with Rev. David Lambert officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be: Chuck Jeremias, Stephen Palmer, Lee Harbeson, Steve Langham, Van Langham, and Jimmy Yelton.  The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 p.m., Wednesday in the Atrium of First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, it is the family’s request that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 1205, Thomson, GA 30824.

Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Rd., Thomson, GA is in charge of the arrangements.

It is with deep sadness knowing how much I will miss Annette that I extend my heartfelt sympathy to you, Mr. J. C., Cliff, Tanya, Tori, Matthew and Andrew. She has been a great friend to me and a special confident always offering love, wisdom, and encouragement in my Christian walk. I was heartbroken to find her so ill in recent days. The only mending of that heartbreak is knowing where she now is and that she is not in pain nor suffering. May the faith that she taught you to have in Christ carry you through your grieving and strengthen you in the days ahead. I pray for your peace and your comfort.

My heart goes out to J.C. and the whole family. Ms. Annette was the epitome of the gracious southern lady. Loving, kind and willing to help where needed. I will forever remember that smile and soft voice. Rest in peace knowing that you touched the hearts and lives of many Ms. Annette.
One of my favorite poems that has helped me with the loss of loved ones.

I’m Free

Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free,
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone will stay that way,
I found that peace at close of day.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh a kiss,
Ah yes, these things I, too, will miss.
But not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life has been full, I’ve savored much.
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief,
Lift up you hearts and share with me,
God wanted me now,
He set me free. ~Author Unknown

What a sweet, wonderful woman Mrs. Annette was. When my father was buried, the few, simple words she spoke to my mother meant more to her than anything in the world. (I guess because Mrs. Annette had a way of letting her caring, loving spirit come through.) It's not surprising that she and Mr. J.C. raised two sweet, wonderful children.
Please know that you will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

Aunt Annette was a genuinely graceful and kind lady to others. She always makes my heart smile when I think of her, because she'd always greet me with a smile and leave me with a smile. It's hard for the mind to process this loss, and the ones that I'm saddest for are those of you who were so close to her: Uncle J.C., Cliff, Tanya, Tori, Matthew, and Andrew. I hope that when everything settles and some kind of new routine returns to your lives, that y'all can think of her and have lifted spirits with the thought of her happy smile.

Ms. Annette was a blessing to those that were fortunate to be her friends, including my mother, Elizabeth Hughes. She, along with Mr. J. C., were always doing for others with joyful smiles and words of kindness. She will be greatly missed by many.
